A few of you may have noticed I was out of town for the last week or so. I sort of disappeared.
Sometime on August 11th I came down with a splitting headache that came on instantly. Quick trip to the hospital, CT scan, they said I have a mass in my brain (it was either blood or calcium at the time, ended up being blood). Plane ride up to Ottawa. Sat in the hospital for a week or so while they figured that all out.
They told me I have this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebral_a ... lformationEverything was fine, I'm a little off balance and they told me I'd need to come back in a month for surgery. Waiting is supposedly the better thing to do, as the brain will heal itself. So they sent me home (6 hour drive woo).
I'm home today.
I got a call just a few minutes ago.
Their two best neurosurgeons are in town and were looking at the MRI of my head, and they figured they could do the surgery now.
Like right now.
They called me up, and I'm headed back to Ottawa (woo 6 hour drive again) so they can test anesthesiology on me to see how I react. Once about a week or so after that, they'll do brain surgery. A week or two after that, I should be good as new.
edit: also, because I live in Canada, this has been relatively free. socialized healthcare woo!
